Haider Ackermann
fall 2012

Haider Ackermann

Haider Ackermann’s fall collection was a study in contrast. Combinations of cozy and edgy, hard and soft, organic and geometric, wearable but dramatic, alternately sleek and voluminous created stunning visuals.

A quintessential fall color palette of warm grays, burnt oranges and deep purples rendered in wool, leather and satin made for sophisticated, feminine looks that would work just as well in real life as on the runway.

Burberry Prorsum
fall 2012

Burberry Prorsum

This collection effortlessly pulls off one of my favorite styling tricks – balancing masculine elements like bombers, field jackets, epaulets and other military inspired details, with feminine ones like peplum, bows, florals and cute little creatures. Every look is sophisticated, urban and modern and nothing is so over the top that it’s unwearable for anyone but Anna Dello Russo.

Matthew Williamson
resort 2013

Matthew Williamson

Filled with simple, tailored silhouettes, Matthew Williamson’s resort collection freed him to play with fun combinations of patterns, textures and fabrics to create brilliant mixtures of opposites – like his silky, oversized shirtdresses.

His monochromatic combinations of bolds and pastels (my favorite throw-on-and-go outfits) are so refreshing after an overwhelmingly bright summer (not that I’m complaining).

Erdem

I can’t get enough of Erdem – especially his collections from last year. His 2012 pre-spring lookbook is still so current and, with it’s silk, tweed, floral and lace combinations, would fit right into my summer and pre-fall wardrobe.

MSGM
pre-fall 2012

MSGM

I found this collection through Court & Hudson and loved it from the minute I saw it for it’s quirky color combinations and haphazard pattern matching grounded by sleek silhouettes.

My favorite outfit in the collection balances contrasting-scale plaids and tuxedo-stripe pants and the styling is perfect: long leather gloves scrunched up at the wrist, spiky heels and cat-eye sunglasses add an extra edge to the look.

Textile Elizabeth and James
fall 2012

Textile Elizabeth and James

The Olsen twins’ lower-priced companion to their Elizabeth and James line is right up my style alley – skinny jeans, t-shirts and not-too-tall boots – the right balance of “classic yet casual” that’s perfect for weekends.

The styling and proportion here is perfect too – oversized t-shirts under a sweatshirt with the sleeves pushed up or half-tucked into skinny jeans with a belt – just enough detail to look like you put in a little effort.
