I think it’s fantastic when designers think beyond the current season they’re designing for and consider longer-term usage and transitional dressing.

Even though this is a fall collection, the styles, colors and patterns of the clothes are something I can start incorporating into my wardrobe now. The colors are bright and poppy and the impressionist-style florals are springy but tempered with tweeds, knits and dark grays, these looks could definitely work year-round.

I’m completely enamored with the super-saturated colors in this collection and, particularly, the presentation. I wouldn’t necessarily say that the whole is greater than the sum of it’s parts ā€“ the long sequin gowns are pretty spectacular and I’m totally into matching accessories this season ā€“ but the flow of the color spectrum is just so visually stunning, I have a hard time focusing on anything else.

Carlos Miele

The little glimpse of summer we’ve had these past few weeks has reinvigorated me to flip through all the spring collections for some style inspiration. Anything with bold, organic prints or bright color blips on my radar so I was psyched to see the Carlos Miele show had lots of both of these. Even though I have no place to wear a drapey, floor-length gown, the way the fire-and-water-slash-paradise theme was translated through the color palette, the prints and the movement of the fabric was exquisite.

Carolina Herrera’s combination of light, airy fabrics, fresh color palette and juxtaposition of organic and geometric prints is perfect for spring. The refined silhouettes and touches of white keep the collection glamorous and elegant while the pops of red, yellow and black ground each look.

While there were some colorful, intricately-patterned pieces in this show, I found the collection of tailored, black dresses particularly stunning. The body-skimming silhouettes, geometric detailing and strategically-placed cutouts combined to create a kind of demure sensuality that’s just right for fall.

While I’m not a big fur fan, Mulberry’s Where the Wild Things Are-inspired collection was a wealth of inspiration for stylish layering in cold climates. Furry vests over delicate pencil skirts, super-sized scarves belted at the waist and a strapless leather dress over a long-sleeved lace tee all combined beautifully with rugged boots that look like they could handle some snow-covered sidewalks. An earthy color palette, subtle prints and textures, pops of orange and skinny belts kept bulky layers from overwhelming ā€“ a feat that’s tough to achieve when it’s ten below.
